San Jose Police Officers Association
Endorses Jim Beall for State Senate

Largest Law Enforcement Organization in County Supporting Beall for
His Longstanding Commitment to Public Safety and Working Families

San Jose, CA — Today, the San Jose Police Officers Association (SJPOA) endorsed Assemblyman Jim Beall in his campaign to represent State Senate District 15. The endorsement is the latest in a series for Beall, including public safety groups, local and statewide labor organizations and local leaders.

“Jim Beall has a distinguished record of supporting public safety in Santa Clara County and standing with local working families,” said SJPOA President Jim Unland. “SJPOA is proud to endorse Jim Beall for State Senate and we look forward to working with him to make our area a better and safer place to live."

“I deeply appreciate the endorsement from the men and women who are among our most trusted and valued public servants,” said Beall. “I have always made support of our public safety officers and public employees a priority. I will continue to work side-by-side with the SJPOA in the State Senate as a friend of law enforcement and public safety as a whole.”

Born and raised in San Jose, Assemblyman Beall served on the San Jose City Planning Commission before becoming the youngest person, at age 28, ever to be elected to the San Jose City Council. He served 14 years on the council and in 1994, he was elected to the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors. Beall was elected to the California Assembly in 2006 and re-elected by wide margins in 2008 and 2010. Over his 30 years in public service, he has represented nearly half of SD15.

The SJPOA represents nearly 1100 men and women of the San José Police Department (SJPD). It has been serving San José Police Officers and the San José Community since 1962.
