Jim Beall Receives Official Endorsement from California Democratic Party

CDP Endorsement Adds to Growing Momentum for Beall’s Campaign

SAN JOSE, CA — The California Democratic Party (CDP) announced that it has formally endorsed Assemblyman Jim Beall in his campaign to represent State Senate District 15.  The official party endorsement comes just weeks after Beall’s commanding victory in the June 5 Primary Election, where he received nearly 56% of the vote.  Beall received the endorsement after receiving the support of more than 65% of local party leaders at a meeting last week.

“I want to congratulate Jim Beall for his endorsement for State Senate by the California Democratic Party.  Throughout his career, he has made a difference to Santa Clara County and California.  The endorsement by the local Democratic Party recognizes his strong leadership on job creation, quality health care, traffic congestion reduction and his work on behalf of the children of the State of California,” said California Democratic Party Chairman John Burton. “Jim Beall should be excited and proud that his record as an elected official has earned him the endorsement of the Democratic Party.”

The endorsement holds significant importance in the election for State Senate District 15, in which both candidates in the November General Election are Democrats.  The district currently has about 180,000 registered Democrats and Democrats are expected to make up over 46.5% of voters in November.

“Jim Beall has spent his life as a committed advocate for the people of Santa Clara County and I am happy that the Democratic Party has joined me in endorsing him,” said State Senator Elaine Alquist. “I know that in the State Senate, he will continue to work to make our community better – by working to create jobs, protecting students, seniors and the disabled, and standing up against the special interests.”

“I am so proud to be endorsed by the California Democratic Party for the State Senate,” said Beall.  “The CDP endorsement adds to the strong grassroots support and organization my campaign has already built.”

Born and raised in San Jose, Assemblyman Beall was the youngest person, at age 28, ever to be elected to the San Jose City Council. He served 14 years on the council and in 1994, he was elected to the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors.  Beall was elected to the California Assembly in 2006 and re-elected by wide margins in 2008 and 2010.  Over his 30 years in public service, he has represented nearly half of SD15.

Beall has also received the endorsement of dozens of major organizations and local elected officials, including the California Teachers Association, California Nurses Association, San Jose Police Officers Association, Santa Clara County Firefighters and State Senate Majority Leader Ellen Corbett.
