California League of Conservation Voters Endorses Jim Beall for State Senate

Leading Environmental Organization Cites Beall's Longstanding Record Protecting the Environment and Public Health

The California League of Conservation Voters (CLCV) – the non-partisan political arm of the environmental movement in California – today announced its endorsement of Assemblyman Jim Beall in his campaign to represent State Senate District 15.

“Jim Beall has a distinguished record of achievement on environmental issues throughout his three decades of public service representing Santa Clara County,” said CLCV CEO Warner Chabot. “CLCV is proud to endorse Jim Beall for State Senate and look forward to working with him to protect California's air and water, promote public health and build towards clean, alternative sources of energy."

Beall has an impressive 98% lifetime score on the CLCV’s Environmental Scorecard for his votes on priority environmental legislation while in the Assembly. Throughout his 30+ year career in public service, Beall has built a proven track record of working to improve air quality, supporting programs to create green jobs and investing in alternative energy.

“I am proud to have the endorsement of the California League of Conservation Voters,” said Beall. “I look forward to working with them in the State Senate to protect our environment, and spur economic growth by creating new, green jobs in the Silicon Valley.”

Born and raised in San Jose, Assemblyman Beall served on the San Jose City Planning Commission before becoming the youngest person, at age 28, ever to be elected to the San Jose City Council. He served 14 years on the council and in 1994, he was elected to the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors. Beall was elected to the California Assembly in 2006 and re-elected by wide margins in 2008 and 2010. Over his 30 years in public service, he has represented nearly half of SD15.

The political muscle of the environmental movement in America’s leading environmental state, the California League of Conservation Voters (CLCV) is the nation’s oldest grassroots environmental political action organization. CLCV uses sophisticated campaign tools to help elect pro-environment officials – and to hold them accountable for passing legislation to protect health, communities and the environment. CLCV publishes the annual California Environmental Scorecard, which rates the actions of every state legislator and the governor on the state’s environmental priorities each legislative year.  For more information about CLCV, visit
