The Economy and Jobs

In the State Senate, Jim has led efforts to raise the minimum wage, expand affordable housing options, and attract quality jobs in Silicon Valley. Senator Beall has fought for pay equity, joining with the Women’s Caucus to pass the strongest equal pay law in the country, and he has supported strengthening California’s family leave policies. Jim has worked to improve affordable housing options and voted to provide $35 million in this year’s budget to expand the CalWORKs Housing Support Program, a program designed to help low-income homeless families or families in danger of losing their home due to unpaid rent, eviction, or rising rent costs. In the State Senate, Jim has also supported programs that work to keep low-income seniors and individuals with disabilities in their homes, and he voted to help Californians receive tax relief through the earned income tax credit.

“I am proud to support Jim Beall for State Senate because he is a tremendous advocate for Silicon Valley’s working families. He helped pass the nation’s strongest equal pay law and worked to increase California’s minimum wage to $15 per hour.”
